It would somewhat depend on the year of your car as to what is appropriate. i've seen pictures of earlier two-stroke cars with wide white walls. My '67 96 V-4 had white wall bias plys when I bought it that were considerably narrower than 2-1/4 inches. The original tires in '67 were 5.20x15 bias plys except on the Monte Carlo, which had radials as part of the package, maybe as small as 145x15 (haven't seen anything that small recently on anything but a Citroen 2CV).
