For some reason the flange on my 95 came with 2 set screws to hold it on. I don't know if it was a factory deal or if a PO did it. Nevertheless, when the mechanics were working on the engine, the whole fan assembly suddenly flew off and really screwed up the radiator. So the mechanic bought a new fan/pully from Chip Lamb, and then tightened the heck out of the set screws. THEN he epoxied them so "they wouldn't come loose again". Well, they came loose but I heard the noise before it flew off. In trying to take it off myself to work with it, I found that it was loose enough to wobble and make me nervous, but too tight to remove. So I had to drill through the epoxy and in doing so I think I screwed up the allen-head set-screws. So my plan is to just drill them out altogether (if I can), and remove the flange and then go to an electric.

I was originally thinking of a pusher so that I wouldn't have to do the shaft-chopping job on the inside. But then I read a few messages in the archives about putting the fan from a 900T on it, and adding a thermal switch just like on a 900. I found a good 900T fan, so now I'm thinking I should go ahead and saw off the shaft to give me room, then install the dang 900T fan and be done with it.

I do have a 1700 motor I bought as a spare, and I COULD dismantle them both enough to use the good shaft/flange from the other one, but timing cover removal/installation procedure looks to be a major PITA. So as long as I have the fan, and can get the switch, my major issues are reduced to:

a. Getting rid of the protruding shaft (what to cut it off with?)
b. Figuring out how best to wire the fan/thermostatic switch.
