Zinc isnt' nice when it burns. I have to do it sometimes and there have been times that I've cheated and not worn a respirator...though I dont' plan on having any more children, welding zinc is not the way to sterilize one's self...though that is a possible side effect. It can make you quite woozy though drinking a hefty amount of milk tends to ease those pangs. the metal will weld funny from time to time as well seeing as the gases let off by the zinc are not what one generally seeks in a flux or argon unimix...that will make the weld settle funny, but if you take your time, wear a mask, and have a little understanding of welding processes, you can use the galvanized. Do you plan on paining it afterwards? I DON'T know if the galvanized coating affects the durability of the paint.
