the magnet drain plug in the trans can tell a lot. A truly good trans is a valuable find. Any idea of mileage on the car? Recent experience with a 'parts' Sonett yielded an engine with reasonable oil pressure at cranking speeds and a trans with some bits of metal on the plug. They are going in a 96 and the report will be in soon. If its not running or driveable, fliuds, compression and/or leakdown, and balance pulley wobble are about what you can tell. I've found balance shaft wobble to be noticeable in 3 out of 4 used V4's recently. All of the drivetrain, axles [ including rear assembly ], all suspension components, brakes, and some of the dash switches and misc. are the same as the 95/96.
