Finally getting around to swapping an old spare trans into my 73 96 and found something that's news to me! The stub axles have a rubber donut surrounding a giant wingnut looking thing, which isn't that surprising, but they also are held into the transmission by long bolts that run down their centers instead of the spring clips I'm used to seeing. So the new question is, what did this come out of? And can the new style stubs be used in there? I bet they can't. Is this a trans somebody else could use in their car?
