In principle a cylinder with low compression should cause a consistent and unvarying condition. In practice anything can happen in oddball cases but in practice that would be rare. If you are worried about compression you should test it.
Far the most common cause of an intermittent miss that feels like a stutter, jerk, fishbite etc is something in the ignition system. Change the parts of the ignition system that you haven't yet, cap rotor and wires IRRC, adjust points and timing in that order, adjust carb idle mixture and speed. Adjust your valves. Most of the time this process will take care of the problem. After that, ignition coils do fail in time, and fuel delivery problems may be involved but would only rarely be responsible on a carbureted system.
It is possible to narrow down and pinpint these possibilities alternately to the shotgun process of replacing parts until you fix it, but that requires an gnition scope and experience, ie $$$$$$.
