I absolutely agree with Bill: if the car is in good shape mechanically then an all day drive is no problem. I have taken many an old car - including Saabs, Volvos, VW's and Mercedes on all day drives at highway speeds with no problems whatsoever. Keep in mind that these cars were made to be driven and quite often driven fast - so the design is there - it is just a matter now of the condition of the car and only you can assess that.
