What you are refering to is the latest oil grade specification that came out last year. Many articles were written last year especially by cam and lifter manufacturers about recent wear issues. The above chemicals are shear wear additives that also were suspected of coated and over time degraded the cats and o2 sensors from the new emmission warranty standards 100K and 10 years. SO... the big 4 automakers requested that the next oil spec upgrade was to reduce the wear additive package significantly ( approx 70%-80 reduced). What can be done is to use older spec oils SG's or better yet Deisel oils (Rotella). Except for the latest diesels with cats and EGR and exhaust sensors, good old fashioned multi vis diesel oils work great and they are much more readily availiable in 10-4o 15-40 20-50 weights older cars with miles seem to like. Don..
