If you can find a parts house with a listing for the drain plug, they should be able to match a washer to the plug in stock.
A crush washer was mentioned, that to me would mean a layered washer like a spark plug washer, that crushes on installation. These are generally OK for repeated use but I think that technically they should be replaced every time. I don't believe SAAB used this type, but would expect it to work fine. Other types are copper, aluminum, fiber, nylon, metal with a molded-in rubber ring, and O-ring. All but the last are interchangeable as far as I am concerned, interchangeable. The fiber ones are most likely to split. Copper and aluminum are my favorites for a permanent gasket. I do not know what causes a mfr to choose one over the other.
While you-re under there, change the transmission fluid too. Do not confuse the trans drain plug with the oil drain plug as has been done. Some V4s had a strange trans plug requiring a special wrench. I believe it has 1/2" pipe threads and can be replaced with an ordinary pipe plug (brass is nice) with an allen head (preferably) or square head. Redline MTL synthetic fluid is favored by many here. You need a 75, 80, or 75/80 fluid viscosity. Avoid fluids with any number higher than 80, synthetic or not. I think it takes about 2Q.
Assess the condition of the transmission fluid. Clear (brown, I don't mean transparent), good, it's been maintained. Black, gooey, thick, suggests it has not been changed adequately. Metal particles or chunks, bad news.
Final note to the gasket size question: A good store will have a selection of gaskets and for less than the trouble of running to the store with your car on the stands, you could buy a selection of one of each in a likely size range, say holes from 7/16" to 3/4", and use the one that fits best. Good luck.
