My only concern about taking pistons with the block is that if you buy say .010 oversize pistons and your block needs to be bored .030 you will have to try to exchange the .010 pistons for the larger ones. If you go ahead and take .030 pistons and it really only needs to be bored .010 over, yes, they will go ahead and bore .030 which puts the block at the end of its ability to be bored again should something happen that scratches a cylinder. (That or have the cylinders sleeved.) This may be rather nit-picky and chances are good that a "tired" engine is going to need to be bored to the max anyway. I've always had problems with brake service centers who immediately want to turn your rotors to the minimum thickness rather than just to turn them the amount needed. I'm sure part of that is to be able to sell you new rotors the next time you come in for brake service.
