ignition key stuck (Saab 96 v4) Posted by hondahawkrider [Email] (#954) [Profile/Gallery] (more from hondahawkrider) on Tue, 2 Jun 2009 10:59:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The previous owner didn't know the car needs to be in reverse to pull the key out so it's stuck in the ignition. The good news is that turn/works fine - it just can't be removed anymore.
At the present time, I am a bit hesitant about trying to remove and/or replace it as I never dealt with this issue before and am worried about making a mess or worse screwing it up so it won't start the car.
Thus I am looking for any tips/tricks or any write ups/assitance to do a swap (I have looked thru previous posts and have asked for the documentation to be emailed - but the threads were quite dated)as I also understand if the new one isn't put in correctly, It's not hard to screw it up..
Also, as I don't really care so much about the stock look (it's a rally replica with vintage equipment - (http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/members/photos/954/13444.jpg for pic)a 2ndary ignition would be fine (and might be easier). I have seen these before, but it's been a loooong time. This is usually a small box under the dash with a small key and toggle switch, where the main key won't work unless the key is in and the switich is flipped (basically an interrupt). Anyone else done anything like this... Any all help is appreciated..
Thanks in Advance..

In Maryland - anyone who was at Carlisle has seen the car, it was the White 96 V4 with the Blue Roof and hood..
