Mike,
Pull all 4 plugs, ground the coil wire, and run the engine over several cycles to get a reading. 130 to 150 is good. If one or more are low, then do this test- squirt a couple of shots of oil in the cylinder and repeat the test. If it goes up, then you have worn rings. If it stays the same, you have a burned valve or possibly a cylinder head gasket leak.
With the plugs out, pop off the valve covers and adjust the valves.
