I'm still stalled on getting this bearing out. It's honestly driving me crazy now because I've been told some wrong info that is only making the job harder and a bigger PITA.

Let me just say what I've done so far:
The hub/disc has been removed. The brake caliper has been removed. The lower ball joint as been unbolted from the lower A-arm.

The two bolts which hold the bottom of the upper ball joint and the steering arm to the knuckle were partially rounded off, so I decided instead I would just remove the upper ball joint from the upper A-arm.

I was told by somebody that I didn't need to compress the spring to do this, but I had also seen a warning that one must compress the spring to do this. So Put I put on a spring compressor and snugged it up just in case - but didn't fully compress the spring.

Well as I found out the spring MUST BE COMPRESSED before unbolting the ball joint. I'm lucky that I had a screw driver in place of the first bolt I removed, and that I was smart enough to put the spring compressors on even though I was told they wouldn't be needed.

Anyway I now have to compress the spring - but that leaves me with two other issues - I was told when starting that it would be possible to remove the knuckle without also removing the drive shaft with it. Now it turns out that isn't possible? (if it is I'd like to hear how to do it) - So I still have to un-clamp the inner axle boot, but since I didn't do that sooner it's now going to be a much larger PITA to do (since the car is now apart and jacked up and just my luck the screw that loosens the clamp is facing down instead of up).

Also I'll need to detach the tie rod from the steering arm since I cannot get the arm off of the knuckle because some bozo rounded off the bolts... and I'm almost fed up with working on this car. I've always worked on all my cars myself but this SAAB is just not fun or easy to work on (well it might have been if the manual wasn't so vague and unhelpful).

What I want to know, from anybody who's replaced a front wheel bearing - how did you get it out? I was sent a tool for removing the lock ring that holds it in, but I'm still going to have to remove the drive shaft from the bearing and then somehow clamp the knuckle down so I can remove the lock ring with the tool. And then get it all back together? The manual is so vague on the issue of putting the parts back together they may as well have not writen anything at all about it.

Anyway, that's my rant. If anybody knows what to do, or if anybody is in Austin TX and can offer assistance it would be greatly appreciated.
