Valve adjustment (posted to Yahoo group also) Posted by serge [Email] (#1363) [Profile/Gallery] (more from serge) on Fri, 27 Nov 2015 13:40:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Cheers all, I'm wondering if I could get some advice regarding adjusting the valves. I’m having trouble with the rocker arm adjustment on one (#5) inlet valve. I’ve been assuming that you increase the gap by tightening the compression nut clockwise, and loosening the nut decreases the gap. As the kids say on the Interthing…"mirite?”
My problem is that on this inlet valve, I’ve run out of travel. I can’t turn the nut clockwise any further, and I can’t get any gap. I’m pretty sure I have everything lined up: the timing mark is at TDC, the rocker arms for the #1 cylinder are rocking, and I should thus be able to adjust valves 3, 5, 7, and 8. Am I looking at sending the heads off, or might there be some hope to be found? I’m praying that I’m doing something monumentally stupid, and that one of you will educate me with a slap to the head…
Thanks up front…I appreciate your help and collective knowledge!
