I recently purchased a 1963 SAAB 96 and posted an ad here on this forum looking for a water pump.A man in California, that saw the ad, contacted me and said he had over $8000 of NOS parts for the "bull nose" He was very convincing, said his father was a dealer, died and left him all this inventory.I talked to him over a 2 day period. He knew every part of these old SAAB,s. I was working on my water pump, had new seals made at machine shop and he knew problems I was having plus all parts involved .Any way to shorten the story I sent $500 to him by Western Union for new water pump, master cylinder, etc. (he wouldn't take checks,Paypal, etc cause he didn't trust computers..some "old farts" are that way)I thought I had hit the "mother load" for parts.
This is the first time I have ever done this. I sent the cash to his wife: Ruth Steinway,26601 Osgood St,Fremont,CA 94539 cause he said she handles the money. Next day I called his cell and it was disconnected, looked up the address on Google and it was in the middle of an intersection. Money is gone,I am an idiot but if I can save someone else from this,I will be happy. The guy said his name was TJ [more like TJ Crook]
What is that saying "a fool and his money are soon parted"
