I have learned the Edgar Alsbury built engine started life as a 1968 'smog motor' based on the yellow dot on the back of it. I don't know yet when Edgar built it or when it was last run.
I have two other engines in my work space, both have 12-bolt heads, both will require full rebuilds, and I will be searching them for Block Casting numbers to help with year/model identification.
However, one of them is a single Carb version which used the Pump-erator for cooling, or an electric water pump, as the head does not contain an internal water pump. IIRC correctly it also has the bolt-onn banjo shaped piece on the left side of the block for water line connections.
Is this an oddity? A Franken-motor?
The other engine has an in-head water pump and triple carb array.
