The special angled intake manifold adapter, coupled with a GT750 Crank in the 1964 block, and Crank Bearings of a style used only by SAAB-USA Factory Techs, indicate this is one of the rare medium performance Specification S engines offered as an option to buyers of the Quantum IV/Formula S kits back in 1964. The manifold adapter allows the carb to sit vertical when the engine is installed in its nose-down position in the chassis. Without this adapter the drive-train angle drives the carburetor float wacky. The adapter may also result in a High Rise for faster charging of the engine.
Finding the correct V-belt to drive the Generator is becoming a challenge! The car uses a 3/8-inch wide belt, now called a Fractional Horsepower belt. I will be picking up two different lengths from Grainger tomorrow hoping one will be correct.

My re-upholstered vintage 1964 Corbeau GT Sports Car seat will be picked-up on Friday for installation using a sliding mount from a vintage Cobra. Apparently many owners just threw boat cushions into the cockpit for seat padding back in the day. The cockpit is so narrow that seat manufacturers state their seats which will fit into the confines are limited to drivers with under a 38-inch waist.
I guess I should have painted the starter in addition to cleaning 50+ years of grunge off its exterior and verifying condition of the brushes.
Still only a Roller rather than Runner. Turning it into a Runner will start following the Put In Bay Road Race Reunion in a week and a half. Running out of time!
