Yes it's true, the brakes have failed on my haunted '67 96. Can't test all the great cooling fixes you guys have given me until I'm back on the road again. I'll give a full report when I do get back to the cooling system.
Anyway, I just finished redoing the rear brakes - thanks to Paul Vail and Chip Lamb for parts (these guys rule by the way) - and bled them. Still got major problems:
Brake pedal goes clear to the floor but seems to build up a little pressure as I pump it several times but it will always go to the floor no matter how many times I pump. I've checked all the brakes and lines for leaks and found none. The master cylinder level never drops no matter how much I pump the brake pedal. So...
I'm thinking the master cylinder has failed. Sound right to you guys?
I've got the kit to rebuild, but I'm not sure it's something I should attempt. Should I do the rebuild myself or buy a rebuilt/new replacement.
Thanks in (6 degrees TDC) advance.
Thanks,
Gary Piland
