1) Talk w/ Jack Lawrence @ MSS (716) 665-4200. He described a modification to the 12-cog set-up that sounds reasonable. He's done it on a few b-engines and claims better longevity. I haven't tried it but will.
2) Use an electric pump in place of the OEM mechanical. There's a Shogun set-up in the Summit racing catalog, just tell them it's for a small block Chevy. Downsides of this are:
- There is no long term data (that I know of) on this set-up.
- There will be no warning when the pump fails. The owner of Shogun stated that he wouldn't want to rely on his set-up if his family was at stake (emergency trips to the hospital, etc). I guess all of the car companies have been calling him
Upsides are less parasite power drag and "WTF, our set-ups are crappy enough to begin with. Why not try it?"
