Blocked Float chamber valve?? (longish...)

I think I have had a similar problem with my 99.
I replaced the single carb with twins, and the car ran fine but every now and then the car would start to run very rough and eventually stall. If I looked in the carbs one of them would be completly fooded with fuel, dripping everywhere, into the manifold and air cleaner. The problem usually occurred when the car was driven in stop start traffic or after idling for a while. Eventually I tacked the problem down to the float chamber valve becoming jammed open with some grit, hence the float chamber flooded and overflowed into the inlet maifold. The grit was coming from the steel fuel line that delivered the fuel from the fuel pump to the twin carbs. (the only way to clean the carbs was to disassemble them, I now have this donwn pat!!)
Upon inspection I realised that the steel fuel lines had some corrosion on the inside, and I figured that when the engine bay got hot the fuel line expanded and caused some of this corrosion to flake of and jam in the float chamber valve. Replacing all the metal parts with rubber seemed to work.
I hope this helps
