99 rust repair

Yup, I've done this... and other areas on several 99s.
You can either try and shape a few bits of metal to fit in the spaces or use small flat pieces and weld joins instead of bending the metal. Joins will be strong as long as you don't grind them too thin.
I went for a mixture of the two. It's fiddly, but can be done. The trick is to cut all the crinkly stuff right back to good metal and source decent weight metal for the repair - I use bits clean bits cut off other saabs usually. The metal weight isn't the same all over, so door panels aren't too good for floors! You can clean up the jacking point and use it again. Best to study the same area on one that isn't rusty to see how it goes together. It's pretty straightforward once you look at it. Doing around the front lower suspension mounting isn't though...
Alternatively you could look for a better 99?
