I drove it daily until 1995 when I finally gave in to my daughter's insistence that is was a "social barrier". So what if it was "sunburn red"?
I gave it to my step-son who figured out a way to blow the head gasket in about 3 months. He couldn't get the head off so it ended up in a junk yard.
Yes, the '71 had "free-wheeling", and the engine was the same one used in the Triumph TR-7. That was the last year for the free-wheeling. It also had a passenger's side airbag (until I divorced the bitch).
Fun car. I still wish I had kept it. It gave me about 290,000 dependable miles, and turned me into a Saaber for life!
