Believe it or not, your 4-door 900S weighs only about 500 lbs more than the lightest 99 ever built... and that was a '69 99GL. The later 2-door models weighed between 2450 and 2550, and the 4-door 900S about 3000lbs... A lot of people assume that since the 99 was smaller that it was much lighter, but that isn't the case... after 1980, Saab put a fair amount of work into lightening the 900 by reducing parts count, building the cars more intelligently, and using aluminum and other lighter alloys in some key places. FWIW, an '85 900S notchback weighs LESS than a '78 99T!
