When you say the clutch isn't working, do you mean it's not releasing or not engaging?
One easy thing to do before you tear into it again: check the free play adjustment (little square-headed screw sticking out of bell housing on side opposite clutch slave cylinder; has a lock nut below it.) You're supposed to have about 4mm of free play where the slave cylinder piston hits the release arm, which you adjust via this screw... if the adjusting screw is screwed in too far, the piston will move most of its travel before it contacts the arm, and then the clutch won't release. If it's screwed out too far, the arm may not move far enough to release the clutch fully, and the slave cylinder won't have enough free movement to refill itself with hydraulic juice.
