Ack! 99T Posted by Justin VanAbrahams [Email] (#32) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Justin VanAbrahams) on Mon, 20 May 2002 17:13:21 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Some of you may know me from my other role on the c900 board, but I also happen to have 99T. It's been sitting in the driveway for almost a year and a half, mostly unloved, but a couple weeks ago I pulled it in for an engine swap.
Everything was going smashingly - all new seals & gaskets & pulleys. It was looking very nice. The donor motor was from my 1980 900T 5-door (which got a 16vT powerplant - woohoo!). The last step was securing the 99-style motor mounts in place of the 900 ones, and that's where I hit my roadblock. I was under the apparently errant assumption that one B20T was the same as the next B20T. That, apparently, is not the case.
The passenger side mount is this vaguely triangular shaped thing. It has two bolts on the head, one bolt on the mid-section of the engine block, and one bolt at the rear of the block next to the [newly refurbished] crank pulley.
And it's that last one that has a problem. It seems that a 900 B20T is not
tapped back there for the bolt that is supposed to go there. Beyond the hole in the timing cover is solid metal, and not even a punch will slip in there. I'm at a loss to explain. Any thoughts?
