I had a similar dillema and solved it by buying a cheap oil pressure gage at a local parts store and a 1/4x1/4x1/4 FPT t connector (and 1/4" nipple) from hardware store so I could use the hole that the oil pres sensor threads into to drive both the sensor and the gage. The whole effort cost about $20 and took several hours. See posts from several months ago for more details. That will at least confirm your red light.
Unfortunately, I wound up having to rebuild my engine...
