SCD04 was a great event, and the weather was perfect, (if a bit cool) for this year!
I enjoyed meeting a lot of people whose names I knew, but had not yet met!
I was the Saab guy with OLBLUE and the Saabo...
I had a great time, and towed it there for a 7:00 am arrival, so I could help set up.
I was surprised and psyched to win both "Best in Show" and the very cool VSCNA "Best Vintage Entry" awards for the day!
I will be involved in setting up SCD05 next year, and will make sure we get some better awards/trophies for the winners :)
I ended up leaving around 5:00 pm and had the opportunity to "drag race" Linnea in her 900 on route 9...
She won!
I made it to the ramp from 128 onto the Mass. Pike when OLBLUE developed a running problem...
I was able to get the rig off of the ramp and into a pullout.
I diagnosed a fuel problem, replaced the fuel pump, and disassembled the carb. and got underway in a little while.
I made it a few hundred more feet before the trouble started again.
I ended up playing with it a bit more, and finally decided to tow the 2 vehicles.
I want to thank the people who stopped to assist!
It was not an easy spot to pull out...
But in the end I could not find the exact cause then and there, and the prospect of stopping (again) in the right lane on the Pike with the Saabo in tow, and in the dark- was enough to convince me to tow the Saabs off the highway.
I have put 9-10K miles on this car since August, driving out to the SOC, and towing the Saabo back from IA without a problem...
I have been using it as a daily driver for the last 6 weeks, and it dies on the way home from SCD!
I was home by 8:30 pm, OLBLUE and Saabo safely at home.
All in all, a very fun but expensive day for me!
I have a web page set up for the Saabo and I am looking for pictures of the Saabo and the '68 95 to use for that page.
If any one has photos that I can use from SCD04, please email me or respond here.
The site is located on the Saab Stuff pages at: http://www.InfernoMaster.com
My email is: peterATinfernomaster.com.
Thanks to all who came out for a great event, and be sure to make plans to be there next year!
Peter
