Need advise how to deal with a repair dispute with my local Saab dealer. They replaced a head gasket which cost me $800. 2 weeks later I am driving to work on Interstate 91 in Vermont and I suddenly loose power and the car starts knocking-badly. I pull over, the car stalls. Call boyfriend, Saab Dealer, tow truck etc. Turns out the oil blew all over the engine, no oil left in the engine. Hauled to Saab dealer who said it wasn't their fault it was the crank pulley seal that went. Other mechanic I hauled the car first to (I was 50 miles from the dealer) said "oil leaking between head gasket and cylinder head" I had him write it on the invoice for the cost of the oil they put back in.
I am hence without a vechicle. I have just started a new job I am probably have to give up because I can't pay for a new engine (I am meeting with the bank today for a loan) I have contacted the credit card company and they will help me with the dispute. Other than that, do you have any advise, please? What is the best way to deal with repair disputes? I called SaabUSA consumer service. Sonja, who answered the phone, was very pleasant, who ever hired her knew their job. She was caring and understanding, BUT since it is privatly owned dealership they can't help me. She told me to find out who the owner of the dealership was though and contact him/her.
I would appreciate any advise that can be offered to me. Someone must have had some similar experience. I love my Saab. I have owned it 5 years, bought it 2nd hand. Haven't had much trouble at all, I think I had only one other time I needed repairs. I take good care of her. She has 90thousand miles on her and would have gone further I am sure. I am not a usually a speed demon (got a ticket at Christmas) and I am a careful driver. Any suggestions, please? Thank you Carol
