You did not post your miles.
The only seals that will leak oil will be the engine rear seal, and rarely the front crank seal. The distributor seal seems to fail (on the NA engines that have them.
The rear seal is a dud, they will all leak in time with any oil. The replacement is a new design or material, not the same one. The problem is often quite evident at 100,000 miles. Some of these will be replaced arleady.
So auto-rx for leaky seals is not the right question for these engines. But it will clean out engine deposits. The auto-rx site will answer your other questions. Its not cheap.
I suggest removal of the valve cover to have a look around. If the metal has a 'coffee' stain, thats normal. If there is any goo or coffee grounds or gummy worms, you have to take action. If things look ok, you are good to go and can use sythetic and not worry about sludge.
If you are sludge free, or use autorx to get there, then with synthetic I can't see the need to use it later again.
I think that sludge is starting with stuck rings ,then blowby gasses contaminate the oil and the oxygenates and alchohols in RFG-II fuels work on the oil.
Meanwhile the blowby gasses also contribute to wear and wear metals act as catalysts that accelerate the oxidation and polymerization of the oil to form sludge and goo. Synthetics, or at least Mobil 1 true synthetic is not going to coke up in the piston ring grooves.
