So mating the new stator with the old rotor core wasn't such a good idea. It would've worked if there wasn't any slight rubbing when spun. Fortunately I decided againts starting and testing the car this way. I went ahead and drilled out the remains of the lower 8mm hex bolt on the alternator. Doing so relieved the tension on the bolt and once the head was off, the stud itself starting workinging its way further just from the friction of the drill bit boring into it. From there I was able to drill a smaller bore down the stud and extracted it with a $2 bolt extractor, which is what I needed all along. So after spending $50 on a Craftsman bolt-out extractor set, $15 on a blow torch, it turns out all I needed was a $2 Vermont American bolt extractor from Home Depot. The Craftsman one did crap as the bolt was pretty much seized. After drilling, the Craftsman extractor was too short to reach inide the bracket/alternator, so the $2 extractor did the trick. After visiting 3 Hardware Stores, no one had anything like the 8mm Hex bolt needed.. so looks like its off to SAAB to pay who knows what for one........
