I just came back from the shop today with a related diagnosis. 2 years ago, new clutch at 70k miles (Wife had killer downtown commute). I felt the flywheel / clutch was grabby a bit since the new clutch was put in. 6 months ago the fork sleeve went (leak started, etc). Fixed. Last week the linkage went to the birds. Lost reverse and 1st :-). Turned out the the throwout bearing needed replacement, but also that the flywheel was burned in a few spots (remember grabby?) and the springs inside the clutch assembly were mostly SHOT. To make a long story longer, most of a new clutch. I got a decent break in labor cost, but still...
Grippen, keep in mind that similar vintage Saabs will ring you easily 1,000 to 1,500 a year in repairs, plus required maintenance if done at the dealer. Nice car, and I don't want to get rid of it, but I could be leasing a Kia or Hundai whatever for what I'm spending on keeping the 900S running.
