Missing brake retaining spring?

Well got started on my front brakes, new pads, 5mm rotor screws and rotors, I take the wheel off and noticed the retaining spring on passenger side is GONE. There should be one on both sides, right? Would I have to buy the whole caliper or can the spring be purchased seperately? A brake shop did the work last time (they also used a wood screw to replace the rotor hold down screw, guess they stripped the other one). Not sure if it dangerous to drive like this, but I guess I have for 65k since the brakes were last done. Quality of work like this makes one want to DIY. Now if I can just get that damn screw out. Soaked with PB blaster, no luck yet...hate to have to drill the damn thing out.
