In the last month or so, my ignition switch intermitantly (mostly) stopped popping up when i take out the key. I have been ignoring this thinking that it really isn't an issue, other than the anoyance of the dinging sound when the door is open.

I am only posting this beacuse my mom is taking care of my car while i am studying abroad for a semester. the car sat for 5 days without being touched, she went to drive it around the block a few times and the battery was dead. Could their be a link between the switch and a dead battery.

I replaced the battery and altinator this past July at the dealer.
