Hi,
I have a 97 Turbo Convertible with 71k miles. I bought it about a year and half ago with 54k miles. I got it cheap, for less than $9k, and it has no mechanical problems. But after driving some newer 6-cylinder vehicles and even a 03 Mazda Protege, this car seems antiquated. The car just feels like an old car. It's not very tight and has no low end torque whatsoever.
I get the feeling people are raving out their old 900s because they're cheap, not because they're superb driving machines. I like having a convertible, but I can see why SAAB cars depreciate like bad. They're solidly built, but neither the engine nor suspension feels substancial and up to par with many janpansese and german rivals, engine nor suspension. I drove a 95Maxima which looked rather staid, but it drove like a sports car and a rocket compared this thing. I can't justify getting rid of it because it continues to be very reliable thus far. At the same time, when the top's not down, it's kind of a boring, flimsey car. Any suggestions?
