I would recommend tackling yourself. I did the same recently. The learning curve killed my time. After having done it once I bet I could pull the whole thing apart and put it back together in a couple of hours.
My advice is:
1. Make sure you have a 1 1/4" deep well for the axle nuts. I used a deep well, 1/2" breaker bar, and a 3' section of galvanized plumbing pipe (Lowe's). Worked like a charm.
2. Take the strut to a shop to have them loosen the retaining nut that holds the strut insert in place. These are held in with loctite and a real b*tch to get loose.
3. Borrow the spring compressor from Autozone. They charge you a deposit that is refunded when you return the tool. Total cost = $0.
I did not replace any bushings, so I cannot speak to that. Follow the steps on dip's site and you will be fine.
