Plano history... Posted by Andrew [Email] (#1013) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Andrew) on Tue, 17 Oct 2000 23:04:41 In Reply to: Plano or Plan zero......or is it Plain Oh, hr, Tue, 17 Oct 2000 10:39:41 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
A friend of mine has been researching his family's history and came across some interesting factoids on Plano. For example, the name stems from what the early settlers thought was Spanish for "Plain!" Also, Lebanon, the name of a road in Frisco, is named after a now defunct town that existed there. I'll see if I can find the rest of the interesting info that he found about Plano and the surrounding areas.
I really don't like Dallas in general. The traffic is rough, the city isn't too clean, the people are (generally) rude and showy, and the complete lack of physical beauty is appalling. I'd much rather move to a more interesting city with interesting physical aspects. So far, Colorado Springs, Boulder, Salt Lake City and Albuquerque top my list. More Saabs in all of those, too! (Not that many in ABQ, but drive an hour north into Santa Fe and see lots of Saabs!)
I haven't been in the Porsche store since they added Audi, but it's a great place. Beautifully done. The owner, Scott Ginsburg, also owns Voltaire, the fancy restaurant at Keller Springs and the Tollway. Good food there. I think, however, that the best automotive service I've received has been at Sewell. Their sales staff is friendly and fairly knowledged, their service staff is excellent, and they're certainly willing to go out of their way.
