Hey all. I haven't been posting much lately, but some of you know me from the OG900BB. I'm seriously considering one of a handful of '99 and '00 (both used) base convertibles. If any one can answer at least some of these, that'd be great. I'm going to test drive a few this afternoon, so some of these I'll get a better feel for my own answers, though I appreciate your input!
1)On those cars that have only a tape deck, can a Saab or other CD changer be added?
2) How bad is the 80W stereo? Seems to like you'd need a lot more sound in a converible. The Blaupunkt I have in my '85 is great with 140W. I can't imagine going with less, especially in a convertible. Can I install an aftermarket amp in the base? I know Saab sells an 80W amp and two speakers...for $638!
3) Does the base convertible have anti-sway bars? I'm assuming not. What else is different in the suspension? How much better (qualitative answers are fine) is the SE suspension?
4) What exactly is missing on the base's SID?
5) Is the no-charge maintenence program applicable to leased vehicles? This why I'm asking: If I'm looking at buying a '99 auto. convertible (8k mi) for $32 (probably get for $29-30k, right?), payments are going to be around $600/mn, and I'm stuck with maintenence. However, if I lease, payments would be $500/mn AND no maintenence costs! As long as I'm careful about the milage, why wouldn't I lease? Are lease payment amounts "set in stone"?
Thank you so much,
Nathan Work
