In cars equipped with ACC--Auto Climate Control, audible ticking sounds are detected as the car attempts to maintain the pre-selected temperature.
It is much faster than the wiper issue you described.
In my case, once it began ticking---it was constant---faster than the pulse of a Rolex tick if you get my drift here.
Pressing Auto and off to reprogramm the ACC had NO EFFECT--and 1 fault was/is displayed on the ACC controller.
Apparently the servo motor(one of 2--and I understand both CAN be the culprits here) is at it's max limit and keeps trying to go further--hence the ticking sound.
The SI explains how to recognize if these are out of phase, how to correct it/and or replace bad servos--which is a real dashboard delight to us all.
In addition, it covers the manual climate control issues of stiffness, shaft breakage etc. recognizing customer complaints on this, diagnosis and fixing it before it breaks--yeaaaaaaaa
Hope this illuminates the topic.
Regards.
