ACC clicking and ticking --UPDATE

Although this is the 9-3 BB, I hope you all will appreciate the following: My 1998 NG 900 SET CV went into the shop for the "Clicking and ticking" noises in the ACC system--as posted last week on the BB.
The ACC symptoms were indeed BIZARRE!! As an example, it was clicking/ticking like crazy when the outside temps were 50 -60 F ( 10 to 15 C) and very very warm inside the cabin as you would drive the car. Yesterday, driving the car to the appointment, the outside temps were 34 to 36 F (plus 1 to plus 2 C) and I found myself freezing inside the cabin as I drove along.
Initial verdictwas as follows:
First, it was determined the AC portion of the ACC was running constantly until it iced up. The anti-frost thermostat was bad, and replaced with a new updated one.
Second, the ACC controller( number 3 if you count the original one that came in the car )was bad. Bad how ?? It would not make the AC run--hence the very warm temps I described above.
The servo motors were lubed and were okay per the new SI I wrote you all about last week.
The service time on this so far exceeds 3 hours inclusive of diagnostic time. My dash looked like a jigsaw puzzle yesterday AM--but no rattles or scratches what-have-you.
Regards.
