No major hints to pass along really . . .
Had a great conversation with Ray when I picked up my 9-3SE (early 99', non-HOT). I complained that I couldn't get my boost gauge to the orange/red border. He measured boost at WOT at 25.4 and demonstrated no actual problem (it doesn't reach the border very easily, but it'll get there when pushed). I asked him to check all the "performance related issues including plugs (which were fouled and worn after only 15K miles . . . NGK BP6's). He replaced those, cleaned the throttle plate/body and idle control valve, diagnosed a "faulty" battery, the works . . . engine is smoother than ever.
I had a list of about 5 or 6 other items (non-engine related).
I spoke to Ray at one point in the past about cranking my wastegate down a couple of turns to increase base boost, but we've never scheduled it. I'm not interested in spending extra $ for performance at this point, just enjoying the car's abilities as is.
Speaking of which, did Ray help you work out the config for your wagon lights? From what you described, whomever it was stumbled upon that setting by trial and error. Would they be able to duplicate easily?
