The 9-3 can be a bother on bad roads with frost heaves and pot holes since the alloy wheels can dent and the camber steer gets to be tad much, but oh the joys of SAAB ownership far outweigh the little annoyances. Our SAAB dealer is tops and the cars (99 9-3 base and 99-9-5 SE ) are great. I never tire of diving my 9-3. I looked at Audi and BMWs, they were not faster but they cost 5 to 10 k more than the 9-3 for similiar equipment. I looked at the Acura TL (it was BORING). I am so glad I bought my 9-3 because it is as much FUN to drive today as it was the day I test drove it th efirst time. The turbo oomph never gets old and the brakes are just on a par with anything else out there. The ride can be a trifle harsh and the steering sometimes seems to be more than effortless in the twisties but the car is predictable in a spill and it FEELS CONNECTED to the driver in a manner sorely lacking in most other brands. Simply hate renting cars at airports since they only have crap Fords and GM domestics.
I still remember the moment during the first test drive in December of 1998 when time stood still and I recognized I has been searching for a torque monster such as the 9-3. Eureka!
