It's doubtful that the sun itself will make the car run warmer, as the thermostat and cooling system (including fan) should keep the car at the proper temperature. The car may already be hot when you start it, however. It can easily be 150+ inside a car in AZ if the car is in direct sunlight. You cannot touch anything to drive; instead of waiting for the car to get warm, you have to wait for the car to get cool (where "cool" is under 100). My gearshift knob, made of a chalky substance, would be mushy and melted. The air will be 110+, so another 20-30 degrees of sun heat won't be bad. Plus, this will only be temporary, until you drive and the air "cools" the engine down to meet its temperature.
I drove my Jeep Comanche there for 14 years. It has 120,000 miles on it and it's still going strong. The paint is, however, faded and splotchy. Supposedly, color can make a 20 or 30 degree difference, but this is when the car is sitting and not when it is running.
