If you don't see any bare metal or primer in the scratch then it probably just scraped the clearcoat which will turn white. There are various scratch removers on the market (have only tried Meguiars Professional Swirl Remover #9) for the DIYer... Don't use "Rubbing Compound" to start with, that is way too harsh.
If you don't feel comfortable doing this then take it to a professional detailer or a paintless dent removal place. They should only charge you $25-$50 to completely remove it.
