A "standard" 9-3, without the audio upgrade has 4 speakers...two in the dash, two in the rear. There are no speakers in the door, but there are holes (and usually speaker wires already there) for 6.5" speakers. While the hole is there for the speakers, the screw holes on aftermarket speakers will most likely not line up with the pre-drilled screw holes in the door mounting location. It is easy, though, to drill new screw holes in the sheet metal around the opening for the speaker.
As it says in the audio guide, do not try and pry the grill off the door panel. It does not come off. You have to remove the whole door panel as described in the audio guide to get to the speaker mounting hole in the sheet metal of the door. The speaker wires will have a special plug on the end that fits the Saab door speakers in the audio upgrade kit. You can buy an adapter to connect that plug to the standard connectors on aftermarket speakers, or you can clip off the special plug and solder the wires directly to the speaker connectors or to the clips for the connectors that come with the new speakers.
