I average at least 28mpg in a rural environment. Not too much stop n'go. I don't drive like an old man, nor like an 18 year old twit.
On highway cruising at 80 ish I generally do about 29 mpg. To me this is astounding given the level of perfomrance my Viggen gives back. I applaud Saab for their choice of gearing and using a 4 cyl turbo. I was tempted to swap the Viggen for an M3 (1999) recently but just could not get over the short gearing of that car and the fact that I was always in the 3500+ rpm range in my driving comfort zone.
People around me can hardly believe the mileage I get with this car till they take a road trip with me. I routinely fill up after 460 mpg on a tank.
Also, my trip computer is uncannily accurate. I can gauge when I've pulled 16 gallons out of my tank within about 1/4-1/2 gallon. Much to my wife's consternation, I might add.
Claude
99 Viggen 30 k miles.
