I had the same problem. On my car the noise was so loud that it could be heard even when the radio was on. I fortunately discovered the problem a few days after I bought the car.(Bought car in July) Saab USA said they could fix the problem and they(the dealer) kept the car for weeks, trying a bunch of things including replacing the compressor. When nothing worked, they told me there was nothing wrong with the car and that it was just an inherent noise in the car. I threatened to sue them (i'm an attorney) and after a few tense weeks they agreed to take the car and gave me my money back. At one point one of the service advisors told me that some of the cars just make this noise. They don't really know what causes it or how to fix it, but apparently the Swedes are working on the problem.
I will never purchase a Saab again. How do they expect to be a real player in the near-luxury market if their cars have such basic quality problems such as this. If you spend more than 30K on a car, you expect for it to at least not make a loud buzzing noise when the A/C is on.
Anyway, good luck.
