About to pick up a 2001 3 door, Black Viggen. The deal is for $36,500 and am trading a 1993 Ford Bronco, Eddie Bauer Edition (w/95,000 miles, some external rust and a sloppy transmission)for $3,000. Total deal is for $33,500. I qualify for 5.9% financing.

The Viggen is fully loaded and stickers for $39,020 at a Saab dealership in Watertown, MA and has 78 miles on the odometer. I think I got a good deal. I tried talking the price down ( closer to $35,000 ) but they would not budge. I even told him that I know that the Viggens are not selling and that Saab is redesigning the aging 9-3 platform which is affecting the resale value of all current 9-3s. Regardless of what I said, they would only let the car go for a few hundred dollars over invoice ($36,000 and change).
For you Viggen owners and afficionados, I have the following questions:

1. Is this a good deal?

2. What incentives are available for a Viggen purchase (eg. Maintenance, Loaner Car, accessories, etc.)?"

3. Are there any good and proven after market engine performance mods that are available for the Viggen?

4. I was very surprised to see that the acceleration times for the Viggen, in a recent Motor Trend magazine comparison, were as slow as they were. I expected the Viggen to out accelerate the Volvo S60 T5, Acura TL Type S, and inch out the BMW 330i. In a real situation, on the street, can the Viggen take these cars from 30 mph and up?

5. Finally, I am interested about any reliability or quality issues that you have experienced?

Your input will be greatly appreciated. I love the look and uniqueness of the Viggen and want am excited to learn about how you all feel about them.
