The torque steer is controllable, if you learn to accelerate smoothly and the road is flat. Just watch 2cnd gear and sometimes 3rd. I think it's a fun and practical car. I was originally going to get an Audi TT, but the Viggen drives almost as well, is way more functional, and is better looking in my opinion. I also looked at a VW Golf (almost bought a red one), Audi S4, BMW 330Ci, and Mercedes (forget which one I drove now). The Saab is relatively inexpensive and yet more functional. If I had it to do over, I would give the S4 avant another look, but I still don't think a single guy should own a station wagon! The normal S4 is way too small for me and has no headroom.
I've had my car almost 10k miles. My complaints are squeaks and a recalcitant transmission. However, my car was hit to the tune of 11k three days after I got it. The squeaks seem to be in the area that I think they took apart. The tranny is unusual, as very few people have posted problems with their tranny and none have posted my particular problem (sticks in 3rd, 4th is darn near impossible to get into, and 3rd and 4th will both be blocked at times). I hope to have these items fixed at the 10k checkup.
