Don't overlook the JBL GTO series. The 6X9 is a speaker that is highly under rated. I fitted a pair in mine, and a few friends followed me after hearing them.
Look at http://chrutchfield.com They sell a complete JBL kit including adaptor wiring harness so that you don't have to cut off the ends of your current SAAB speaker connections.
By the way: I sent several e-mails to JBL pointing out that their own SAAB 9-3 speaker info is all wrong. But they refuse to listen. Perhaps others can also point out to them that if any SAAB driver followed the JBL official recommendation, the speakers on their website won't fit!
