I negociated my lease with chase from my agreed buy out price of $16303 down to $10,500. It took some work and haggling. My lease was up January 1st, I began my dealing with them on Dec 10th, when they called. First read your lease agreement for so called hidden charges, specific maintence required, lease buy out options, including misc fees that were rolled into the lease agreement and finance. second do some home work and determine what "street retail" of the car with simular mileage, wear and tear.

Next convince yourself what a terrible car it is, how much it has depreciated, and how could could get a far better car for shorter money.
Convince yourself of this- no matter how hard. The moment you say it's a great car to the bank- you're history.

Next, consider the lending institution to provide financing for this buyout. The logic being they may take a hit on the car-IF they know they can turn the buyout into another loan. My 3 year loan for 10,500 was at 6.1% agin I negociated that as a separate item, once the 10,500 was confirmed. We originally agreed on 11,300 they fedex'd me the paperwork for me to sign, they thought they had me- I sent it right back stateing that I changed my mind and wanted the car for 10,000. Do not sign anything until YOU are satisfied with YOUR deal.

Lastly with my High tech sales experience, the glut of cars both new and used as a result of 9/11 and negociating in December with less than a month to go on my lease proved to be an advantage. Banks don't want to own cars- they want to own money or loan money. In my opinion you are too far out ( 5 months) in your lease.

I hope this was helpful, Ed
